The London Churches Refugee Fund raises money to give small grants to organisations assisting destitute refugees and asylum-seekers.
"In the end this is what Christian love looks like. It is risky. In fact, it's impossible to love someone the way Christ loves us and not face a certain amount of risk."
The words of Rt Revd Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of London, who gave the keynote address at this very well-attended meeting. She set out her view of the imperative for Christians of responding to the call not just to love our neighbour but to love the stranger in our midst.
We also heard from Revd Lucy Winkett, Rector of St James', from workers and guests at the Croydon Refugee Day Centre, Room to Heal, St James' Piccadilly International Group and Housing Justice.
There were contributions too from several Trustees of LCRF, a chance to ask questions of the speakers, and a final blessing from Bishop Sarah.
